Crete: Rare Vulture Found Exhausted on Chania Beach

A rare vulture, specifically a Griffon Vulture (Gyps Fulvus), was found exhausted on the beach of Georgioupolis in Chania, Crete. The bird, which usually lives on the high mountain peaks of the White Mountains, attracted the attention of beachgoers.
With the help of a lifeguard, the vulture was removed from the sea and placed under the care of the Forestry Department. The Griffon Vulture is a diurnal scavenger bird found in Greece under various names.
This incident highlights the impact of climate change on wildlife, as the bird was found disoriented and exhausted far from its natural environment.
