Heatwave: Yellow Alert Issued, Mercury at 40°C in Cyprus

The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow alert for extreme maximum temperature in Cyprus. The alert is in effect from 12:00 to 17:00.

Today, the weather will be mainly clear, but in the afternoon, locally increased cloud cover will be observed, and isolated showers are possible, mainly in the mountains. The temperature will rise to 40 degrees Celsius inland, around 33 on the southern, eastern, and northern coasts, and around 30 degrees on the western coasts and in the higher mountains.

On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, the weather will be mainly clear, with increased cloud cover in the mountains in the afternoon.
