A prolonged heatwave is affecting areas of the Arctic Circle, including Santa Claus Village in Lapland. Temperatures in northern Finland have consistently reached 30 degrees Celsius for over two weeks, an unprecedented phenomenon.

According to the Finnish Meteorological Institute, temperatures above 30°C have been recorded in the country for 14 consecutive days, something that has not happened since 1961. In Rovaniemi, the phenomenon has already lasted 15 days.

Meteorologist Jaakko Sävelä notes that anthropogenic global warming has increased the intensity of the heatwave. Professor Jeff Welker adds that such phenomena are now more frequent and intense.

The region's reindeer are affected by the heat, as they seek coolness outside their natural environment. Tourism is also affected, with many visitors expressing disappointment.
