Heatwave: First 43°C in Thessaly - Measures and Forecasts

Today, Thessaly is expected to experience the first temperatures of 43°C, while the state mechanism is on alert to protect citizens and workers.
According to meteorologists, the heat will be intense and continuous, with high temperatures persisting for many days and nights offering no substantial relief. Athens and Florina are expected to reach 40 degrees.
In Thessaly, temperatures are forecast to reach even 43°C locally, while very high values are also recorded in Laconia and Messinia. The peak of the heatwave is expected on Thursday, with Athens reaching 42°C.
The General Secretariat of Civil Protection has issued recommendations to citizens, urging them to stay in cool places, avoid sunbathing and heavy physical work, wear hats and sunglasses, eat light meals, and drink plenty of water.
In addition, measures have been taken to protect workers, with mandatory work stoppages in outdoor areas during the hottest hours of the day in regions such as Attica, Thessaly, and Central Macedonia.
The updated bulletin from EMY emphasizes that the heatwave is expected to gradually subside from the new week.
