Strong Earthquake of 7.5 Richter Scale in Drake Passage

A strong earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale occurred late last night in the Drake Passage, between the southern tip of South America and Antarctica.
The initial estimate from the United States Geological Survey was for an earthquake of magnitude 8 Richter, but the estimate was revised to 7.5 Richter. The focal depth of the earthquake was 11 kilometers.
The earthquake struck the Ushuaia area of Argentina, which has a population of approximately 57,000 inhabitants. Initially, there was a tsunami warning for the coastal areas of Chile, but the warning was subsequently revised.
