Spain Wildfires: 7 Dead, Over 1.5 Million Acres Burned

Spain is facing a critical situation with 14 major fire fronts in various regions. Firefighters are battling amidst adverse conditions, including high temperatures and strong winds.
The wildfires have claimed the lives of seven people and have burned over 1.5 million acres of forest and agricultural land. Virginia Barcones, head of emergency services, described the situation as extremely worrying, especially in the western part of the country.
In Galicia, a large fire front caused the closure of highways and railway lines. The national meteorological service AEMET has issued a warning for extreme fire risk, with temperatures expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius on the northern coasts.
Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez stated that the day would be very difficult, with an extreme risk of new fires breaking out. Avincis, an aerial emergency service provider, recorded a 50% increase in flight hours for firefighting operations in Spain and Portugal.
