Spain: 32 Dogs Found Dead from Starvation on Abandoned Farm

A tragic scene of animal abandonment was uncovered in the province of Badajoz, Spain, where police found 32 dead dogs on a farm. The animals had been abandoned since June.
According to authorities, the animals had been abandoned without food and water. Some were chained, others locked in cages, and some free to roam, without any chance of survival. In some cases, dogs reportedly tried to feed on the corpses of others to survive.
The horrific discovery was made after a complaint of abandonment and abuse. Civil Protection has launched a criminal investigation against the owner of the farm, on charges of abandonment leading to the death of the dogs.
Since 2023, Spain has adopted a new legislative framework for animal protection, with stricter penalties for cases of abuse and abandonment.
