Greenland: Power Restored in Nuuk After Cable Damage

Power has been restored in Greenland's capital, Nuuk, early this morning after an outage caused by damage to a high-voltage cable due to rain. The outage began on Saturday evening.
The electricity company Nukissiorfiit, which supplies Nuuk from the Buksefjord hydroelectric power plant, announced that power was restored around 4:30 a.m. (local time).
"The whole town is now supplied with electricity, water and heating again," the company said via Facebook.
Power outages are common in Greenland, mainly due to extreme winter conditions that damage high-voltage cables.
Three days before the outage, the government had updated its preparedness recommendations to citizens, advising them to have stocks of water and food.
