Grand Canyon: Wildfire Burns Uncontrolled for a Month

A wildfire has been burning uncontrolled for a month in the Grand Canyon, having destroyed nearly 500,000 acres of vegetation. The fire, known as the 'Dragon Bravo Fire,' started from a lightning strike on July 4th and has forced authorities to close the northern part of the park.
Over a thousand firefighters, supported by aerial resources, are trying to bring the fire under control. Despite efforts, the fire is only 13% contained, and there is a risk of further spread due to dry and hot weather conditions.
The 'Dragon Bravo Fire' is the worst wildfire of the year in the US so far. It has already destroyed 50 to 80 building infrastructures in the northern part of the park, including the Grand Canyon Lodge.
The southern part of the Grand Canyon remains open to visitors. The northern part has been closed until October 15th.
Firefighting efforts have been complicated by budget cuts to forest protection services.
