Finland: Heatwave Breaks 50-Year Temperature Record

Finland is experiencing a heatwave that has broken a 50-year record, with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius for 14 consecutive days, according to the country's Meteorological Institute.
Specifically, on July 25th, the mercury reached 30.3 degrees Celsius in Parikkala, eastern Finland. This marks the longest period of consecutive days with temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius since 1961, surpassing the previous record of 13 days recorded in 1972.
Meteorologist Ville Siiskonen noted that global warming will lead to more frequent and prolonged heatwaves. Last year, Lapland recorded its hottest summer in the last 2000 years.
