Semeru Volcano Erupts in Indonesia – Ash Cloud Videos

Mount Semeru volcano in East Java, Indonesia, has erupted, prompting the volcanology service to raise the alert level to the highest. The volcano sent ash clouds as high as 5.6 kilometers into the sky.
The eruption began at approximately 4 p.m. (09:00 GMT). Pyroclastic flows reached a distance of seven kilometers from the summit.
Mount Semeru, also known as Mahameru, is Java's highest mountain at 3,676 meters. It is located on the Pacific 'Ring of Fire'. In 2021, an eruption of Semeru caused 62 fatalities.
