Environmental and political organizations held a protest in Agios Georgios Pegeias, denouncing violations in the protected areas of Pegeia and Akamas. Protesters voiced their opposition to arbitrary actions and demanded the protection of the natural environment.

Representatives from the Green Party, the Green Youth, the Cyprus Ecological Movement, Friends of the Earth, the Center for Social Innovation, and Reset – Research and Education in Social Empowerment and Transformation participated in the event. Andreas Evlavis, Coordinator of the Green Party of Limassol and Paphos, emphasized the need for radical decisions to protect the environment.

Stamatis Papavasileiou, Secretary-General of the Youth of the Green Environmentalists Movement, stated that the situation in Akamas has gone beyond all limits and demanded accountability.

Meanwhile, the President of EOA Paphos, Charalambos Pittokopitis, referred to the 13th Carob Festival of the Municipality of Akamas, stressing that the high public participation is a response to those who tried to cancel the event. He also noted the importance of the coexistence of humans and the environment.

The protest was followed by a cleanup campaign on Lara beach.
