Australia: Rare Snowfall Hits Eastern Regions

Rare snowfall has affected parts of eastern Australia, causing disruptions and power outages. In some areas, the snow depth reached 50 centimeters.
The extreme weather conditions caused floods and vehicle abandonments, while thousands of homes were left without electricity. The New South Wales Emergency Service reported that rainfall of over 10 centimeters was expected in some areas.
According to the state television channel ABC, the most severe snowfall in the last 20 years was recorded in the northwestern parts of the state of New England. The Sydney Morning Herald reported that the state of Queensland experienced its first snowfall in a decade.
