Concerns over Football Players' Health Due to Heatwave

The Pancyprian Footballers Association (ΠΑ.Σ.Π.) has expressed concerns regarding the health of football players, as teams schedule training sessions at inappropriate times during the heatwave. Specifically, training sessions at 15:30 and 16:00 were reported, despite warnings from the Meteorological Service.
ΠΑ.Σ.Π. has previously recorded cases of fainting and dizziness due to heat exhaustion. It calls on team officials to consider the Meteorological Service's measurements and adjust training schedules accordingly.
It is noted that professional leagues must comply with the decrees of the Department of Labor Inspection and the Code of Practice for Thermal Stress of Workers. The Cyprus Sports Organization has not adopted a protocol for thermal stress, leaving academies exposed.
ΠΑ.Σ.Π. has developed the "Protocol for the Prevention of Thermal Stress in Athletes (Football Players)" and calls on clubs to understand the risk and adjust training. It appeals to state and sports authorities to take immediate action.
