Shakhtar Donetsk Wins Ahead of Panathinaikos Match

Shakhtar Donetsk started their Ukrainian league campaign with a 1-0 victory over Epitsentr. Kaua Elias scored the winning goal in the 79th minute. The match was held in the city of Ternopil, in western Ukraine.

Arda Turan, Shakhtar's coach, did not use Kevin, who had a slight injury from the match against Besiktas in the Europa League qualifiers. Shakhtar controlled the pace of the game, although they were not as impressive as in the matches against Besiktas.

Before the start of the match, a minute of silence was observed for the victims of the Russian attack in Kyiv.

Shakhtar's next match is against Panathinaikos at OAKA.
