Loizidis Warns of Funerals Due to Stadium Violence

The President of the Police Union «ISOTITA», Nikos Loizidis, made strong statements after the meeting of the Legal Committee of the Parliament regarding the amendment of legislation on violence in stadiums.
Mr. Loizidis warned of potential funerals of victims of hooliganism, calling for decisive action. «Either we dare to put up a barrier and a red line, or prepare the funerals,» he stated.
He expressed his opposition to assigning the control of the fan card to the Police, citing a lack of personnel and overloading of police officers with duties in stadiums. «Only VAR is left to load on the police officers,» he said.
He stressed that the new law will enable the Chief of Police to take measures to prevent incidents, such as holding matches without fans or banning the movement of visiting fans.
He also rejected criticism of the removal of the fan card, explaining that it is done on the basis of evidence and not mere suspicion.
