Swimming: Yareni wins five medals at World Masters

Afroditi Yareni won 4 gold and 1 silver medal at the World Masters Swimming Championships in Singapore. Greece won a total of 11 medals.

In the 30-34 category, Afroditi Yareni won gold medals in the 50m backstroke (29.74), 200m backstroke (2:22.93), 200m Individual Medley (2:21.78) and 100m backstroke (1:03.44), and silver in the 100m butterfly (1:02.30).

Christos Papadopoulos (40-44) won gold in the 400m individual medley (4:54.26), silver in the 800m freestyle (9:09.41) and bronze in the 200m breaststroke (2:28.13).

Georgia Hatzigeorgiou (45-49) took second place in the 200m backstroke (2:41.69) and third in the 100m freestyle (1:01.93).

Aris Ioannidis took the bronze medal in the 100m butterfly (55-59).

On 14/8, the championship concluded with the team events, with Greek participation in the 4x50m Mixed Medley and 4x50m Freestyle Mixed relays, with Afroditi Yareni, Georgia Hatzigeorgiou, Kosmas Kouris and Ioannis Mavridakis.
