Th. Kyriakou: Tychikos Remains a Bishop, Despite Claims

Theodoros Kyriakou clarified that Tychikos remains a Bishop and is not a Metropolitan, as he claims. As he mentioned, the decisions of the Synod are not changed by letters.
Speaking on the Alpha Kalimera show, Mr. Kyriakou emphasized that there is no announcement from the Holy Synod regarding the acceptance of a confession of faith from Tychikos.
"Tychikos claims that he is the canonical Metropolitan of Paphos, with his letter to the Synod. This letter exists. Bishop Tychikos has not realized that the supreme judicial body of the Church of Cyprus is the Holy Synod and that there is a decision. And what does the decision of the Holy Synod say? That the locum tenens of the Metropolitan Throne of Paphos, as when every Throne is vacant, is Archbishop Georgios and that Tychikos is deposed. He is Bishop Tychikos, without a seat," he characteristically stated.
Mr. Kyriakou reiterated that Tychikos will remain a Bishop until the appeal is heard by the Ecumenical Patriarchate. He also explained that the confession of faith was set as a prerequisite for his participation in the Holy Synod and should refer to the Council of Kolymvari.
Theologian concluded by expressing his assessment that the Holy Synod and its President must be decisive, reminding Tychikos at every move of the validity of the decision of May 22.
