The Supreme Judicial Council decided to terminate the appointment of Judge Doria Varoshiotou, who had issued the decision in the inquest into the death of Thanassis Nicolaou.

Ms. Varoshiotou was appointed on a temporary basis as a judge of the Limassol District Court on July 1, 2023, and was under probation for two years. She was deemed not to have passed the probation successfully.

The mother of Thanassis Nicolaou, Andriana, expressed her opposition to the removal of the judge.

Ms. Varoshiotou took over the third inquest into the death of Thanassis Nicolaou in October 2023, following the recusal of Judge Aphrodite Parparinou.

Doria Varoshiotou holds degrees in Byzantine and Modern Greek Philology and Law, with a master's degree in Business Administration. She has been registered as a mediator since 2020.
