Cyprus Red Cross: Support for Vulnerable Citizens

The Cyprus Red Cross (CRC) continues to provide essential support to vulnerable citizens through its Social Welfare Program. According to the Program Manager, Dimitris Phylaktou, the program aims to meet the needs of families, single individuals, people with disabilities, and others who do not receive state support.

In 2024, more than 14,500 people benefited from the program, which includes humanitarian aid, social and psychological support. Mr. Phylaktou emphasized the importance of home visits to understand the actual living conditions of those served.

One shocking case mentioned by Mr. Phylaktou involved a retired cancer patient and his son, who lived in a house unfit for habitation, without basic amenities and with serious health problems. The CRC provided immediate support to the family.

The Cyprus Red Cross calls on citizens, volunteers, and businesses to support its work, ensuring that every form of assistance has a meaningful impact on society.
