Cyprus: 15% Pay Gap Between Men and Women

Significant gender inequalities persist in Cyprus, according to the Statistical Service's "Gender Statistics 2025" report. Despite improvements, differences remain in employment, pay, public life, poverty, and health.
In 2024, average gross monthly earnings were €2,679 for men and €2,267 for women, with women earning an average of 15.4% less. The employment gap stands at 10%.
46% of women aged 20+ have completed tertiary education, compared to 39% of men. In STEM fields, women make up 35.4% of graduates.
Women's participation in the Council of Ministers reaches 36.8%, while they hold only 14.3% of seats in Parliament. In senior public positions (A14-A16), the percentage of women is 45.1%.
The life expectancy for women is 85 years, compared to 81 years for men. However, 35.2% of women over 65 report chronic illnesses.
The risk of social exclusion for women is 18.5%, compared to 15.6% for men, while the risk of poverty is 16% for women and 13% for men.
