Dr. Nicos Ioannou Funeral: Grief and Sorrow

With deep sorrow, family, friends, and the medical community bid farewell to Dr. Nicos Ioannou, the inspirer of the GHS. The funeral service was held at the Holy Church of God Sophia in Strovolos, in the presence of the President of the Republic.

Dr. Nicos Ioannou, a distinguished orthopedist and father of the Minister of Interior, Constantinos Ioannou, passed away at the age of 88. "My father remained true to his roots despite all his degrees and achievements. He was always a doctor and a man of the people," said his son, Giorgos Ioannou.

Dr. Ioannou served as president of the Pancyprian Medical Association (1991-1997) and was the first president of the Health Insurance Organisation. Dr. Giorgos Potamitis, a friend of the deceased, mentioned that in 1974 he treated over 800 injured people in his clinic.

Eulogies were also delivered by his grandchildren.
