47-year-old Convicted for Drug Offenses in British Bases

A 47-year-old Greek Cypriot man was sentenced to 32 weeks in prison by the British Bases Dekelia Court on June 20, after being found guilty of possessing category A and B drugs with intent to supply to others.
The defendant was found in possession of 2.5 grams of cocaine and 100 grams of cannabis. He was also convicted of intentionally destroying evidence, specifically cannabis.
His arrest occurred in the Agios Nikolaos area on October 14, 2024, during a large-scale police operation targeting drugs and weapons. Police Constable Dinos Petrou, Assistant Police Director of the British Bases Dekelia, stated that the sentence sends a strong message to those involved in similar crimes.
Mr. Petrou stated that the police will continue to bring those involved in drug trafficking to justice, highlighting the excellent work of the police force in identifying, locating, and arresting the defendant.
