Geraperitis: Support to Patriarch of Antioch after Damascus Attack

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geraperitis, had a telephone conversation with the Patriarch of Antioch, John, expressing his abhorrence for the terrorist attack on the Greek Orthodox Church of Prophet Elias in Damascus.

During the communication, Mr. Geraperitis stressed Greece's unwavering support for the Patriarchate's efforts to maintain the Christian presence in Syria and protect religious and cultural monuments.

Furthermore, he underlined the need to guarantee the safety of Christians and all religious communities, as well as respect for religious tolerance.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also referred to the importance of an inclusive political transition that takes into account all citizens of the country.
