September 3 Saints Day: Saint Nectarios and Saint Anthimos

On September 3, the Orthodox Church commemorates the Recovery of the Holy Relics of Saint Nectarios, Bishop of Pentapolis. Saint Nectarios, one of the most beloved saints, reposed on November 8, 1920, and the recovery of his relics took place on September 3, 1953, in Aegina.
The holy body of the Saint was found intact and fragrant, confirming his holiness. Crowds of believers flock to Aegina to receive blessings and seek his intercession.
Also commemorated today is the memory of Saint Anthimos of Nicomedia, who was martyred under Diocletian, and Saint Phoebe, who is mentioned as a Deaconess in the New Testament.
