The Ministry of Justice announced its participation in international events to eliminate gender-based violence, with a focus on digital violence. November 25th marks the start of 16 days of events.

This year's UN Women campaign focuses on digital violence, a rapidly emerging form of violence that threatens the safety and rights of women and girls. According to the UN, digital violence is increasing due to artificial intelligence and the lack of a legislative framework.

Cyprus, in anticipation of its EU Council Presidency in 2026, is promoting initiatives to address the phenomenon, such as a pan-European survey and EU Council conclusions to protect girls in the digital space.

The Ministry of Justice is also promoting training for professionals and awareness campaigns. In addition, the 'ELPIS' application was launched by the Police, for immediate assistance to women at risk.
