Fast Track Evictions: Tenants and Landlords Clash
Share on:

A new regulation concerning the "order for eviction due to lease termination" has sparked reactions, with the Tenants Protection Association arguing that it will lead to fast-track evictions amid a housing crisis.

The regulation, included in Law 5221/2025, has caused disputes between landlords and tenants. Landlords argue that it restores an injustice, while tenant associations denounce "fast track evictions."

The new regulation requires tenants to hand over the property immediately after the lease expires, with three months' notice, removing the possibility of appealing to a court to challenge the order.

The Panhellenic Federation of Property Owners (ΠΟΜΙΔΑ) reassures that consistent tenants have no reason to worry, as they have a total of six months to find other accommodation.

The Panhellenic Tenants Protection Association (ΠΑΣΥΠΕ) disputes the claims of ΠΟΜΙΔΑ, arguing that the regulation exacerbates the housing crisis and will lead to evictions with summary procedures.

The Tenants Association of Thessaloniki denounces that tenants will lose their homes even the day after the contract expires.
