The Municipality of Latsia-Geri is distributing 'love packages' containing food and essential supplies to 50 families in need for Christmas.

The Mayor of Latsia-Geri, Christos Pittaras, stated that the Municipality supports families in need at least 3 times a year (Christmas, Easter, August 15th). The initiative began in 2013, following the economic crisis.

According to Mr. Pittaras, while initially around 500 families were assisted, the number has now decreased to 50, due to the reduction of unemployment to 4%. The Municipality also provides gift vouchers worth 40 euros for purchasing meat.

Residents complete a form, and the Municipality's social worker, in cooperation with the Social Welfare Services, verifies the applications. Companies based in the Municipality contribute to the preparation of the packages.

The distribution of the 'love packages' started on Monday (22/12) and was completed on Tuesday (23/12).
