Philippidis Trial: Prosecutor Proposes Acquittal in First Rape Attempt Case

Prosecutor Andreas Karaflos proposed the acquittal of Petros Philippidis on the charge of attempted rape concerning an incident at the 'Mousouri' theater in 2010.
During the trial at the Mixed Jury Court of Appeal of Athens, the prosecutor cited 'numerous doubts' regarding the credibility of the plaintiff's testimony.
Mr. Karaflos claimed to have identified 38 contradictions in the first plaintiff's statement and spoke of a possible 'inner consent' or even a 'romantic relationship' between the two parties.
The prosecutor questioned the fact that the plaintiff did not report the incident to the police or mention it to her relatives, and also referred to messages allegedly sent after the incident.
'Rapists do not send evidentiary messages to their victims' mobile phones hours later,' the prosecutor stated.
