Dr. Nikos Ioannou, GESY's Inspirer, Passes Away

Dr. Nikos Ioannou, father of the Minister of Interior, Konstantinos Ioannou, passed away at the age of 88. He was the visionary and inspirer of the General Healthcare System (GESY) in Cyprus.

Dr. Ioannou was distinguished for his contribution as an orthopedist, as well as for his dedication during the Turkish invasion of 1974, where he treated over 800 injured people. He also served as president of the Pancyprian Medical Association (1991-1997) and first president of the Health Insurance Organisation (HIO).
