In the photo, Bailey appears to be leaning towards Johansson's neck, while she looks at the camera. Bailey accompanied the photo with the word “Scarlett” and a reference to his charitable project The Shameless Fund, which supports the LGBTQIA+ community.

Reactions began in the summer when the two actors exchanged kisses at the film's premiere. Johansson's husband, Colin Jost, addressed the issue humorously, stating that he does not consider Bailey a threat, while stressing that people exaggerate when someone kisses a friend.
