The Ministry of Development has responded to PASOK's claims regarding price hikes, citing data from Eurostat and numerical figures. In its announcement, the ministry argues that many of PASOK's claims are either not supported by documented evidence or ignore critical government interventions.

Specifically, the ministry responds to five main claims of PASOK:

  • Claim 1: Promises of price reductions, but increases everywhere.
  • Response: Cumulative inflation in Greece (July 2019 – July 2025) 21.2%, compared to 26.7% in the EU. In food, cumulative inflation is about the same as the EU average.
  • Claim 2: 'Baskets' and passes do not combat price hikes.
  • Response: The government has imposed fines on businesses for unfair profits.
  • Claim 3: Multinational super-profits and small fines.
  • Response: Fines of approximately 35 million euros have been imposed for unfair profits.
  • Claim 4: Increases in health insurance premiums.
  • Response: The cost of health insurance has increased throughout the EU.
  • Claim 5: Degradation of the consumer movement.
  • Response: Four associations have been registered in the new consumer association registry.
