Migration Undersecretary: Purnara Residents Reduced from 3,000 to 250

The Undersecretary of Migration stated that the government's migration policy is yielding results, aiming for a sustainable asylum system.

In statements to the state radio, Mr. Ioannidis mentioned that since January of this year, there have been 1,900 arrivals and asylum applications, while 8,500 repatriations and resettlements have taken place.

He also stated that irregular migrants enter the free areas through the occupied territories, with the help of traffickers from African countries. In addition, individuals with criminal behavior were deported.

He noted that the Purnara accommodation center now houses 250 people, compared to 3,000 in 2022.
