The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, had a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, regarding developments in the region. Keir Starmer confirmed that 'Cyprus was not a target' of missiles.

In a post on the X platform, President Christodoulides noted that the two leaders are in direct communication and that all relevant authorities are closely monitoring developments.

Earlier, British Defence Secretary John Healey reported that two Iranian missiles were launched in the direction of Cyprus, where Britain maintains military bases. RAF fighters took off from bases in Cyprus and Qatar for protection. The missiles were intercepted.

The Government denies reports of missiles being fired at bases in Cyprus.
