Volt: Charalambous' Resignation Must Be the Start of Purification

The Volt party welcomes the resignation of the Director of the Office of the President of the Republic, Charalambos Charalambous, as a "first sign of integrity" from the Christodoulides government. The resignation comes after revelations regarding Mr. Charalambous' role in securing financial resources.

In a statement, Volt emphasizes that the case requires immediate and comprehensive investigation at the political, institutional, and criminal levels. The party calls for the appointment of an independent Public Prosecutor to oversee the investigations and the investigation of possible money laundering by MOKAS.

In addition, Volt demands the immediate discussion in Parliament of the bills submitted by MP Alexandra Attalides regarding the management of donations to the state, the abolition of the scholarship management body and the transfer of its responsibilities to the State Scholarships Foundation and the Deputy Ministry of Welfare, as well as the proposal to grant investigative powers to the Anti-Corruption Authority.

Volt states that corruption can only be tackled with political will and zero tolerance.
