Vasiliko: Allegations of EU Deception and Loss of €67 Million

Documents reveal a plan to deceive European lenders regarding the LNG terminal project in Vasiliko, leading to the loss of €67 million.
According to the minutes of the ETYFA Board of Directors meetings, the Minister of Energy and ETYFA submitted a completion plan they knew was unfeasible to avoid the withdrawal of European funding.
The decisions aimed to maintain ostensible commitments without intending to implement them. CINEA withdrew funding, considering that Cyprus did not meet its commitments.
Following CINEA's withdrawal, the 'temporary solution' of anchoring an FSRU vessel is being promoted, abandoning the state cryogenic pier.
Questions are raised about the political responsibilities and management of the project, as well as the cover-up by the Presidential Palace.
