In a post on X, Varoufakis states that young people heard the message about the major problem of addiction. Varoufakis' statements were made on a podcast, where he mentioned using ecstasy in the past.

MeRA25 issued a statement, arguing that the prosecutor's office is trying to return the country to the 1950s. The party emphasizes the need to combat drug trafficking through decriminalization and state control of substances.

Varoufakis stated that he will not stop talking about the need to address drug trafficking and cartels, and that he will not be intimidated by the reactions.
