A delay is observed in resolving the issue following the removal of former Metropolitan Tychikos from the throne of Paphos. After appealing to the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, Bishop Tychikos has not appeared nor contacted the Archbishop. Reports indicate he traveled to Mount Athos.

The Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate decided that Bishop Tychikos should return to Cyprus and execute the decision of the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus, signing the libellus recognizing the decisions of the Ecumenical Synods and moving to the Archbishopric in Nicosia.

In a video, Bishop Tychikos had stated his intention to comply with the instructions of the Patriarchate. However, he has not contacted the Archbishop nor taken any action.

According to reports, despite the decision of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Bishop Tychikos has not made his intentions public. Church circles report that he traveled to Mount Athos and may arrive in Cyprus in the coming days. The Holy Synod will allow a few more days and then search for Bishop Tychikos.
