Turkish Cypriot businessman requests opening of Varosha fenced area

Turkish Cypriot businessman Erbil Arkin has reportedly requested the opening of the fenced area of Varosha to the public. According to a report by the Turkish Cypriot website Detay, Arkin is said to have purchased two hotels directly from Greek Cypriot owners.
The "TRNC government" is working on the issue, according to the report. If the area opens, measures are expected to be taken to allow the hotels to reopen. Detay recalls that public areas and some beaches in Varosha have been opened since 2020.
