Tatar Accuses Cyprus of 'Deliberate Delays' at Crossings

Ersin Tatar has accused the Republic of Cyprus of causing deliberate delays at crossing points, calling it a policy of 'blackmail.'
In a written statement, Tatar claimed that the Greek Cypriot side is reducing staff and deliberately slowing down inspection procedures, especially on peak days, turning crossings into an 'ordeal.' He asserted that this is a deliberate policy to exert pressure.
He reiterated his proposal for a new vehicle crossing point in the Mia Milia area, but claimed the Greek Cypriot side is setting 'maximalist demands' as preconditions.
Earlier, the 'police' in the occupied territories stated that the queues at Agios Dometios are due to the reduction of control lanes by the authorities of the Republic of Cyprus.
Tatar stated that approximately 8.5 million crossings take place annually at the nine existing checkpoints, with 65% occurring at Agios Dometios. He also criticized the Turkish Cypriot opposition.
Yesterday, due to a religious holiday, long queues were observed at the crossings, mainly at Agios Dometios.
