Tatar: Recognition of illegal state is final goal

Ersin Tatar stated that the ultimate goal is the survival and recognition of the "TRNC", calling it the "key to the security of the Eastern Mediterranean". The statements were made upon his return from his trip to the United Kingdom.

According to statements at the illegal airport in occupied Tymbou, Mr. Tatar said that during his contacts in London he explained the positions of the Turkish Cypriot side and stressed that Britain should reconsider its policy on the Cyprus issue. He also reiterated the claim that Greek Cypriots are causing tensions.

He also referred to talks with the British Minister for Europe, as well as the upcoming informal five-party meeting, noting that Mr. Doughty spoke with the Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, and was scheduled to meet with the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General, Maria Angela Holguin.

Mr. Tatar stressed the importance of the presence of Turkish Cypriots in London and reiterated that Britain is doing injustice to Turkish Cypriots.

At an event in London, Mr. Tatar argued that a two-state agreement in Cyprus is "realistic and viable".

"Prime Minister" Onal Ustel, speaking at the 8th Turkish Cypriot Culture Festival in London, announced a repatriation package for Turkish Cypriots.
