Stef. Stefanou (AKEL): Effective opposition to an incapable government

The General Secretary of AKEL, Stefanos Stefanou, stated that his party is exercising "assertive and effective opposition" against a government he considers "incapable and below the circumstances." He referred to the "fiasco with the terminal in Vasiliko and the electrical interconnection" as examples.
Speaking at a gathering in Limassol, Mr. Stefanou emphasized that AKEL is putting forward solutions to social issues and is emerging as the "real pole of opposition." He also highlighted the success of reducing VAT on electricity and the pressure to tax the excess profits of banks.
Mr. Stefanou commented on the paradox of the political landscape, where the President continues the policies of the previous government, while governing parties talk about change. He also mentioned that DISY declares opposition, while implementing the policies it implemented ten years ago.
He called for a rally for the parliamentary elections of 2026, for a stronger AKEL.
