The Attorney General, Giorgos Savvides, responded to the accusations made by Eirini Charalambidou regarding the TAKATA case. Mr. Savvides presented the terms of reference of the Investigative Committee, clarifying that the investigation period starts from Cyprus' accession to the EU and ends on March 11, 2025.

In his statement, Mr. Savvides mentions that the claims made by the Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and Equal Opportunities between Men and Women are inaccurate. The terms of reference of the Investigative Committee were published in the Official Gazette of the Republic on March 11, 2025 (Regulatory Administrative Act-K.D.P. 72/2025).

According to paragraph 4(1) of K.D.P. 72/2025, the investigation period covers from the date of the Republic's accession to the EU until the issuance of the decree by the Attorney General on March 11, 2025. The report of the Investigative Committee was sent to the Chief of Police on July 15, 2025, with instructions to investigate potential criminal offenses.

Mr. Savvides expressed his sympathy to the families of the victims and the injured, adding that he expects the investigations to be completed as soon as possible.
