Samaras Raises Concerns Over Chevron Deal, Cites Sovereign Rights

Former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras has voiced concerns regarding the hydrocarbon exploration and extraction agreement with Chevron in the sea plots off Crete. In a statement, he argued that the terms of the agreement suggest a 'potential concession of sovereign rights'.
Mr. Samaras referred to specific mentions in the agreement, such as 'withdrawal of the company from a part that might not be part of the Greek continental shelf or EEZ' and 'areas where the Hellenic Republic will not have sovereign rights'. He also mentioned conflicting statements regarding the research in Kassos, asking if Cyprus is lying.
Mr. Samaras called on the government to provide immediate answers to the questions he raised.
