Cyprus President: UN Announcement on Erhurman Meeting Tomorrow

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, stated that the United Nations will make an announcement tomorrow regarding the meeting with the Turkish Cypriot leader. According to the President, the meeting will clarify several aspects concerning the resumption of talks on the Cyprus issue.
In statements made after a memorial service, Mr. Christodoulides emphasized that he listened carefully to the statements of the Turkish Cypriot leader and the Turkish President. He reiterated that the Cyprus issue is a national matter and the effort to end the occupation and reunification cannot be exhausted in public statements.
President Christodoulides avoided commenting on Mr. Erhurman's references regarding conditions for returning to the talks, stressing that he would not engage in public negotiation. He also referred to the connection of the electricity interconnection project with the IMEC project, highlighting the EU's interest in the wider Middle East.
Finally, when asked about the reshuffle, the President stated that he is not influenced by the publications and will announce his decisions when he makes them.
