President Christodoulides: Meeting with UN Secretary-General in March is Important

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, stated that he attaches particular importance to the meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations in March. The statement was made after the memorial service of Grigoris Afxentiou in Machairas.

President Christodoulides reminded that he had sent a letter to the Secretary-General and that a meeting is being planned through diplomatic channels. He mentioned that this meeting is important for the resumption of talks and the resolution of the Cyprus issue.

The President emphasized the need for substantive talks, with the aim of resolving the Cyprus issue on the basis of the agreed framework.
