Papandreou on wiretapping: Full investigation and punishment of those responsible

George Papandreou stated that the decision of the Athens Single-Member Misdemeanor Court regarding the wiretapping case is a victory for the rule of law. He emphasized the need for a full investigation and punishment of all those responsible, regardless of their position.

The former Prime Minister underlined the government's responsibility for undermining institutions and violating fundamental rights. He also mentioned that Nikos Androulakis waged a lonely battle against the Maximos' system of power.

George Papandreou added that it is inconceivable that the leader of the Official Opposition has not been informed of the reason for his surveillance, in violation of decisions of the Council of State.
