President Christodoulides Ready for Meeting with Olguin with Specific Ideas

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, expressed readiness for his upcoming meeting in Nicosia with the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General, Maria Angela Olguin. "We have some specific ideas on how to proceed," he stated.

Speaking on the sidelines of the memorial service for Alekos Michaelides, the President emphasized the importance of Ms. Olguin's visit before the United Nations General Assembly, where a meeting with the UN Secretary-General and the Turkish Cypriot leader will take place.

He also mentioned the upcoming visit of the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe (CoE), Alain Berset, to Cyprus, highlighting the issue of the five Cypriots being illegally detained by Turkey.

The President concluded that the current state of affairs cannot constitute the future of the Cyprus issue.
