ONEK Issues Before Parliament: Resignations and Accusations

Issues concerning the Cyprus Youth Organization (ONEK) were brought before the Parliamentary Committee on Education during a discussion of the organization's 2026 budget. ONEK President Konstantina Achilleos requested budget approval.

Representatives from the SEK, PEO, and PASYDY trade unions expressed concerns regarding the medical care fund. ONEK Deputy Executive Director Maria Miltiadou emphasized the need for consultation regarding staff medical care.

AKEL MP Christos Christofidis spoke of "strange things" at ONEK, noting that half of the Board of Directors is resigning. He also mentioned direct assignments and "deception of the Board of Directors in the preparation of the budget."

Dimos Georgiadis, President of the Youth of Democratic Rally, stated that the dysfunction of ONEK has consequences for organized youth groups and called on the Government to take action.
