New Digital Platform for Student Statistics in Higher Education

The Ministry of Education is creating a new digital platform to collect and analyze student statistics in Higher Education Institutions (HEI). The platform, provided for in Article 115 of the draft law under consultation, will collect anonymized data through interoperability with HEI student registers.

According to the Deputy Minister of Education, Nikos Papaioannou, the platform will provide reliable statistics to improve educational policies and the operation of HEIs. The data will be collected anonymously, ensuring the protection of students' personal data.

The creation of the platform has provoked reactions from educational and student circles, who express concerns about the protection of personal data, even if they are anonymized.

If approved by Parliament, the new system is expected to provide a more thorough picture of the student profile and contribute to evaluating the effectiveness of study programs.
